Judith K. Bernhard PhD, is a Professor in Early Childhood Studies, Faculty of Community Services, Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
Her research program has focused on partnership programs with immigrant families as ways of assisting them in adapting to their new challenges and opportunities.
Such programs enable them to build on their strengths; to raise their children to succeed in school and become productive members of the new society.
Her work has been with professionals and schools who wish to try out such programs based on engaging families, appreciating their strengths and dealing with them in an egalitarian manner.
